Jefferson Township
Jefferson Township is the northernmost Township in Morris County and was named after Thomas Jefferson, the President of the United States at the time the township was created. This countryside town is just minutes off of Route 80 and located less than an hour from New York City. Part of Lake Hopatcong is in Jefferson. Lake Hopatcong is home to the greatest variety of game fish species of any water way in New Jersey. The lake has bars and restaurants that are accessible directly by boat. There are many other lake communities located in this borough. Jefferson is also home to Mahlon Dickerson Reservation, the largest park in Morris County Park System. Plenty of nature to be enjoyed in Jefferson Township. Commuters enjoy access to route 80 and Route 23.
